Below are some of the topics she has presented at recent seminars. •“I Was Sleeping on the Job and Still Received Unemployment Benefits” •“How to Deal With Non-Paying Residents” •“Defending Unemployment Claims: You Snooze You Lose” •“Terminations and Unemployment Claims” •“Successful Strategies for Collections: From Planning Ahead to Damage Community Tara currently serves on the Board of Directors of Employee & Family Resources, a not-for-profit human services organization.In 2014, Tara was selected as member of the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute’s Community Leadership Program. Membership is limited to approximately 50 emerging and existing leaders from the Central Iowa community. Tara’s team project involved a local transitional housing organization for women, Beacon of Life. The “Room for Giving, Room for Living” campaign fully renovated seven restrooms for the thirty-four women served by Beacon of Life. Tara was a member of the “Friendraising” committee responsible for raising funds for the project as well cultivating long-term partnerships for Beacon of Life for financial sustainability and growth. Tara also served as a member of the Board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa. As a board member, she oversaw the budget and expenses, monitored grants, engaged in fundraising and focused on program improvement. She was also a member of the Bowl for Kids Sake committee, which is the largest fundraising event for the organization, and continues to support this event. Tara also provided pro bono legal services to the organization on employment, contractual and real estate matters. Tara served on the Board until 2013 when her term limit was reached.Tara was also selected to serve on the Drake Law School Board of Counselors. The mission of the Board is to advance the cause of legal education, and to promote the interests and increase the usefulness of the Drake University Law School. The Board provides input on a variety of areas including curriculum, admissions and explores ways to improve the law school. Tara served on the Board until 2013 when her term limit was reached. In addition to her work in the community, Tara is active within Davis Brown, serving on the Professional Personnel and Professional Responsibility Committees.academics Tara graduated with high honors from Drake Law School in May 2005. While at Drake, she served as the Executive Editor of the Drake Law Review and her student note was published in the Drake Law Review. Rev. 545 (2005).Tara also served as the Eighth Circuit Lieutenant Governor of American Bar Association Representatives for the American Bar Association Law Student Division, as the American Bar Association Representative for the Student Bar Association and as the Volunteer Coordinator for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program. She received her bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Iowa in 2002.PERSONALTara grew up in Waterloo, Iowa and graduated from Waterloo West High School.
